Release Blitz – Twisted by Aleatha Romig

The underworld of Chicago is far from forgiving. It’s a
world where knowledge means power, power money, and money everything.

While I paid the ultimate price to have it all, it wasn’t my
decision to give up my life.
That doesn’t mean I ceased to exist, only to live.
Going where the job takes me and living in the shadows, with
deadly accuracy I utilize the skills inherent to me, not knowing from where
they came, not recalling what I’d lost.
And then I saw her.
Laurel Carlson.
I shouldn’t want her, desire her, or need her, yet with each
sighting I know she is exactly what I have to have. Laurel has the ability to
do what I thought was impossible. She sees what others don’t.
My gut tells me that it’s a deadly mistake to change my
plans and open my world to her. My mind says she’ll be repulsed by my twisted
existence.
None of that matters, because my body won’t take no for an
answer.
I’ve made dangerous mistakes before.
This time, will the price be too high?
From New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a
brand-new dark romance bringing us back to the same dangerous underworld as
SECRETS. You do not need to read the Web of Sin trilogy to get caught in this
new and intriguing saga, Tangled Web.
TWISTED is book one of the TANGLED WEB trilogy which will
continue in OBSESSED and conclude in BOUND.

4 Star Review of Falling Under by Lisa Renee Jones

Falling Under: a Walker Security standalone novelFalling Under: a Walker Security standalone novel by Lisa Renee Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 3 in the Walker Security series and each book can be read as a stand-alone.

This is the story of Jewel, a detective who keeps everyone at arms-length, and Jacob, and ex green beret who is hired to protect her. There are quite a few things going on in this book. Jewel is trying to put away a murdering CEO while trying to find a stalker who has recently surfaced after first making contact 2 years ago.

So, I had a hard time connecting with the story at first. We start back at Jewel’s uncle’s funeral. Then Jacob and her start of really rough since when she meets him she finds out that he had been following her for days without her knowledge. I enjoyed the suspense aspect of the story and the underlying threat from Jacob’s past. There were some amazing moments, but I just wish I would have felt their connection earlier in the story.

4 Star Review of Buttons and Shame by Penelope Sky

Buttons and ShameButtons and Shame by Penelope Sky

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to be honest. I absolutely adored the first series of Button books and when I saw Cane was finally getting his story I was over joyed. Cane is selling product to Tristan, but Tristan doesn’t have all the money so Cane agrees to take his slave for 30 days till the rest of the money is paid. Turns out that Adelina is able to spark things in him that he has never felt, but will that be enough to break his hard shell? To find out you’ll have to read the book.

The Good – I really liked Cane in the first 3 books even though he was horrible to Pearl in the beginning and seeing this side of him is great. He is still the same cold business focused jerk he has always been, but Adelina is able to see past that to the not so bad guy inside. There weren’t to many shocking twists, but there were still a few turns that keep me on my toes. The way Cane and Adelina come up with a plan for her return was shocking.

The Bad – Mainly the cliffhanger aspect. Ugh….I need more now. I need to know what happens when the 30 days are up. The only other thing is something about this plot didn’t seem to grab my attention as much as the first series. Maybe it was because it didn’t have as much of the non-con elements even though in a sense it is all non-con. I do hope the rest of Cane’s story knocks my socks off.

4 Star Review of Holden by Julia Sykes

Holden (Dark Grove Plantation)Holden by Julia Sykes

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m a bit on the fence with this one. I really wanted to love it and I normally love the complex alpha heroes that Ms. Sykes writes and this one definitely was 100% alpha. Holly was sweet and innocent, but unfortunately, she seemed to make a questionable decision when she left the club and let Holden not only take her home, but also come inside to finish what they started at the club. A guy she just met and who she barely knows his name. It was definitely a short and steamy read and it was a good insta-love story, but I wanted them to be a bit more developed. Don’t get me wrong – it is a great story and you shouldn’t miss it! Just be in the mood for a quick and slightly over-the-top insta-love story when you do.

4 Star Review of The Billionaire’s Bet by M.S. Parker

The Billionaire's BetThe Billionaire’s Bet by M. S. Parker

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Brianna is trying to get a promotion at her job. She works at a Las Vegas Casino and is in charge of making high rollers happy and also trying to poach them from other casinos. She is tasked with getting Enzo and Dorian become guests of her hotel which she does…..but how far will she go to keep them happy.

Enzo and Dorian are competitive and always making silly bets. The latest Enzo comes up with is getting Brianna to come to Hawaii to pose as Dorian’s date at a family function. The caveat is that he plans to bed her and Dorian cannot touch her.

So, at first I thought this was going to be a pretty superficial story, but it turns out that Brianna has made some really bad choices with men and that seems to keep coming up over and over. Without spoiling it, I can’t say more about what happens with these characters, but there were quite a few twists that I didn’t see coming. Her past was really unfortunate and just when she finally seems to be turning things around everything falls apart again.

Title: Dirty Wife Games
Series: Indecent #2
Author: Clarissa Wild
Genre: Dark Romance (Standalone)
Release Date:  February 28, 2017

A scorned wife on the run, and a stalker who follows her every move… Match made in heaven?
After being forced to marry a tyrant, Hyun Song flees his home in a desperate attempt to save what’s left of her dignity … and her life.
Now on her own, she tries her best to move on with her simple life. But she quickly realizes she can’t escape her past … and that she’s not alone …
He watches her through her window.
Sends her indecent notes.
Stalks her everywhere she goes.
He wants her badly, and when she finally lets him in …
It’s time for the wife to play a dirty game.

From the moment I first saw my stalker, I was captivated.
The man with the black leather jacket and dark, spiky hair sits on a bench across the street from my house, staring down at a notebook.
Every night, he sits there at exactly ten p.m., looking off into the distance or writing his notes under the street light … or looking straight at me.
Like he is now.
Our eyes meet, and a sudden electrical current rushes through my veins.
I’m unable to look away from his piercing blue eyes, and I wonder … How long ago did he first see me?
I’ve only noticed him outside recently … watching over my house as if he’s guarding it. Guarding me.
I don’t know if I should be scared. If I should run or call the cops.
He’s never come close.
So is there any reason to act?
As long as he maintains his distance … an invisible line he doesn’t cross … I still feel safe. I can survive, knowing he is there, wherever I go.
I never know when or where I’m going to see him again.
I just know I will.
A hampered breath leaves my throat as he stares me down from across the street. His gaze feels like it penetrates through the closed windows. And for a brief second, I think I spot a hint of a smile.

“Where are you going?” she asks.
“Shower,” I grumble, annoyed with her indecisiveness.
My cock tents my pants, and I will it down, but it’s not happening. So I take them off, along with my boxer shorts, socks, and shoes. Then I pull off my shirt and throw it in the corner of the bathroom on the pile of clothes that was already there.
When I turn around to grab some shampoo, she’s still standing in the living room, blatantly staring at my naked body while blinking rapidly, her lips parting ever so slowly.
A smirk grows on my face. “Seen a ghost or something?”
Her face glows red, and she stutters, “I can’t believe you just took off your clothes while I’m still here.” She swallows, visibly confused. “Do you want me to go? I can go.”
I shrug. I don’t see the problem. “You can stay.” I give her a smile, and she tentatively smiles back, trying to hide the obvious stare. I guess my cock stole the show.
“Okay,” she murmurs as I turn around and turn on the shower, wondering if she’s staring at my ass. She probably is, judging from the squeaks in her voice. “I’ll go sit down over here…”
I don’t answer, as it wasn’t a question, and I don’t see the point in discussing something completely irrelevant. I’m a man of actions, not of words, and I prefer the written word regardless. I could write whole essays about how her beauty captivates me and about all the things I would do to her to make her mine.
But she already knows that.
She’s seen my notes.
Touched herself to my dirtiest fantasies.
And now, I’m touching myself to them too.
Under the shower, my cock has done anything to cool down.
All I can think of is claiming her for my own, and it only makes me stroke myself more. I don’t even care that she’s in the room beside me. I need the release, one way or another, and if she doesn’t want it, then I’ll have to take care of it myself.
So I imagine her showering with me as I jerk myself off, picturing her naked body. I hiss and bite my lip, completely immersing myself in my own fantasy. The fact she’s right next door only makes it that much more exciting. That much more forbidden.
But when I open my eyes for just a second, I spot her standing in the doorway, with her mouth wide open.

Dirty Wife GamesDirty Wife Games by Clarissa Wild
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ok, so I’m on the fence with this one. On one hand I loved it and the dark elements were awesome, but on the other hand it was a bit choppy and disconnected with so much jumping in timeline….it was a bit hard for me to follow. I get that it was supposed to be part of the mystery in the plot, and normally I love that style when done right, but this one didn’t work all the time. Not to mention that I thought it would tie in more with Wicked Bride Games which it did not.

So Hyun was one of the 9 girls in Wicked Bride Games, but she left early on before the games really began. This is a completely new story line where she is forced to marry a man of her parents choosing, but we do get a brief cameo of the hero from Wicked Bride Games. She has finally had enough of his abuse and is trying to move on with her life, but she is being watched. She isn’t sure if the guy watching her is sent by Max or by Greg. It turns out to be more twisted than you can imagine.

There were moments that I almost got pulled in, but there were too many questions….like someone Max and Greg knew each other, but did they? And we are only give brief glimpses of Hyun and Greg’s relationship….I would have liked a bit more of their stroy. Then the presentation of the letters….at times I wasn’t sure what was really happening and what was part of a letter.

That being said it was a twisted read and had some fantastic scenes.

4 Star Review – Bella Vol 7 by Kimberly Blalock

Bella Vol.7 (A Sagatori family saga)Bella Vol.7 by Kimberly Blalock

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 7 picks up right where Book 6 left off. So what does Bella’s father want with her? We are left wondering at the end of Book 6 and as this installment plays out we meet Bella’s father and he is someone that even Jax fears. Of course, Bella is so sheltered she doesn’t know when to keep herself protected and ends up in the middle of the lion’s den. Will she survive?

This installment was another short story…and once again it left me wanting more. I’m still not sold on this format especially since we skipped the months of Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec. That is always my fear, that we will never get the end and be left hanging. Thankfully we are getting more of Bella and Jax and this again shocks me with a crazy ending. I really need to see what happens next month when book 8 is released.

Worshipped Series
Book #3

Jason

I’ve lived in total darkness for as long as I can remember.
A dangerous place where pain, love, not even remorse was felt. My world was
filled with blood and death until the day I met Karen. Little by little she
showed me the way out of that darkness, into her light. She was everything I
needed and craved. I learned to fight my darkness, wanted the good side of me
to win, until old and new enemies threaten to take away everything and everyone
I care about. Darkness is winning and I fear the only one that can redeem me is
the one I’ll end up hurting more than I thought possible.
Karen can save me, only if she beats the dark beast inside
of me.

Karen

Control is the one thing I understand the most. It’s the
one thing I’ve depended on to keep my fragile heart safe. That was my life until
Jason changed everything. He opened up a side of me I thought had disappeared
long ago, and the control I needed for so long doesn’t seem so appealing. There’s
a void, a hole left inside me now that Jason’s not by my side. I know his
demons. I know his dark beast that dwells within him waiting to takeover
completely. I’ve seen it, felt it, and when the monster breaks free, I fear for
everyone I love.
He thinks I can save him, but in the end, he’s the only one
that can redeem himself.

is not intended to be read as standalones.*

Redeemed (Worshipped Series Book 3)Redeemed by Brie Paisley

My rating: 4 of 5 starsI got to read the whole series together and it was quite a ride!

Book 1 which is the story of Riley, Connor and Isaac and then book 2 took a 180 and focused on Karen and Jason so finally we get the end of story of but they are kept separate for most of the book. I’m not sure how to feel about this. I loved most of the story and the ending was great, but there were some moments that things were a bit slow at times and again there were things that didn’t make sense to me. Like how did Karen not know that the clinic was closed for a while and why would she leave town and why would Jason not stop her? And how did Karen and Riley who were besties not meet as soon as Karen got home and catch up and get on the same page? Ugh, I can’t stand when things don’t make sense to me. This is the darkest of the three books in the story, but I really enjoyed it!

4 Star Review of His Esclava by Jessica Ingro

His EsclavaHis Esclava by Jessica Ingro

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

His Esclava is a short dark story that is the story of Chloe who has signed up to be a slave for Eduardo. She is under the impression that she will be under his control which is fine with her, but it turns out that Eduardo is not nice and doesn’t want companionship from her. It is really hot and I really liked it. There were a few moments that seemed a bit under developed which is mostly because it is a short story. I was grabbed from the beginning and loved the way she was tormented by her feelings for Eduardo and Matteo. I really enjoyed the story and it was dark and steamy….just missed a bit of a spark to get a 5 star rating.
